PW PAL Minor League Baseball Philosophy & Rules
PW PAL for 70 years has been the home to aspiring young athletes in and around Port Washington. We pride ourselves on professional coaching to benefit all players, an open door policy allowing all athletes a chance to compete and a welcoming atmosphere where kids make friends, learn skills, and master a sport.
AGE RULES: 10 years or younger as of May 1, 2018
In order to stay true to those ideals we have the following guidelines:
Guaranteed playing time. Every player plays in every game. Additionally, every player must play at least 1 inning of infield and 1 inning of outfield.
Pitching limits. There is a 3 inning per game limit.
Pitching Control. 3 walks per inning. If a pitcher walsk 3 batters, pitching distance will be shortened to 40 feet.
NO LEADS! Stealing when ball crosses home plate.
3 outs, 5 runs an inning or once through batting order (whichever happens first)
NO BIG BARREL BATS!
6 innings or 90 minute time limit
46 foot pitching distance from mound
60 foot bases
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR ALL FANS
Please remember that the players are 7 & 8 year-olds, NOT major leaguers or even experienced athletes. Their goal is to play, learn and have fun. The fans goal should be to insure that happens. The odds on ANY player anywhere making the major leagues, earning a college scholarship or even making a HS Varsity team is slim. Let the kids be kids and enjoy the game!
NO NEGATIVE CHANTING OR BOOING
NO ARGUING WITH UMPIRES
NO COACHING FROM THE STANDS
